Tabatha Jenkins Professor Mills English 2010 4 April 2012 Evil While reading the boloney The Birthmark by Hawthorne and A Good Man is intemperate to Find by OConner, the reader is shocked by the levels of fiendish in these stories. Both of these stories display evil in different tones. In The Birthmark, the main showcase merchant ship be considered evil, whereas in A Good Man is concentrated to Find, the main character is a good-hearted grandmother. However, the character known as the Misfit in OConners flooring is the center of all evil. It is hard for the reader to somewhat tell apart if Aylmer is actually evil or if he is just too into science and doesnt realize what he has with Georgiana. For example, Hawthorne states that Aylmer was proficient in every branch of natural philosophy……but persuaded a young, beautiful woman to become his wife.(343) When reading this, you sort of smell happiness for this unattractive man that throws himself into science was able to bond such an attractive woman. As the story reads on, you find that Georgiana is considered the undefiled woman, except for this birthmark that is upon her left cheek that is in the find of a hand. Here the reader starts determining their grounds of evil within Aylmer.

Aylmer is so intrigued with his work of science, that he finds himself staring at Georgianas face uncontrollably and with disgust. Aylmer even goes as furthermost as dreaming about cutting the birthmark glowering her face and cutting her heart out.(Hawthorne, 345) Georgiana is at first overwrought and hurt that her loving husband would go to such lengths to unblock her of this small birthmark. She then sees the disgust in her husbands eyes, that she tells him if there be a remotest possibility of it….let the attempt be made at whatever risk. (344) Georgiana is so in get along and necessitys to make her husband happy that she is willing to risk her vitality for whatever experiment Aylmer comes up with to rid her of this birthmark.
