LOCAL RESIDENT WINS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT

In November 2008, a local anesthetic resident, Mrs. Louise mallard, was awarded $11.5

million in damages in the retrial of a besmirch case she brought against a local television

station by and by a news report identified her husband as the dupe of a mob beating at a local

Reading Railroad Terminal.

In May 2002, WCCS-TV, a Selma television station owned at the time by

MultiMedia Communications, falsely reported that railroad employee Brently mallard,

husband of Louise Mallard, was the victim of an abduction and beating by organized

crime figures. The actual victim was later identified in a broadcast by a rival television

station.

The misidentification arose when station reporters tried to find out the victim, who was rumored to be a Reading Railroad employee. The television stations naming charabanc said that the first person who came to mind was Brently Mallard, manager of the local Reading Terminal. Then, WJMB anchor, Sunny Day said that when she resounded FBI agent, mob Bond and mentioned Brently Mallards name, the agent said, you can go with that unless I call you backward. At the original trial in May 2006, Louise Mallard was awarded $15.5 million in damages. MultiMedia Communications appealed the verdict to the homage of Appeals in Montgomery, Alabama, the states highest court, which overturned the verdict.
