While watching Le Grand Voyage it reminded me with many things about what happens around me in egypt, or in other words things that happen in the movie that do not shock me. It starts off showing us the universal quarreling between the father and news in the arab world.
It shows us the opposite types of thinking between the old school and the teenager exhausting to flourish and live his life. Throughout the movie the director uses easy light. You could see that by the simplicity of each shot. For the first 20 minutes on the road on their way to Saudi-Arabian Arabia it is mainly medium shots, down to the waist. It is a realist film, the director tries as much as possible to do minimum distortions, so for me he was reproducing reality just by the camera. Because of the type of motion-picture photography it makes me actually focus on the content itself and not how its filmed.
