I have a best friend that attends UCLA, and the African American student body held a conference on campus. One of the key topics during the conference was the influence from hip-hop on black society. It tied me back to a reading by Patricia Hill Collins called Get your freak on: Sex, Babies and Images of dreary Femininity. Collins focuses on numerous topics, ranging from the verge bitch to a womens sexuality. Throughout my childhood, I struggled with who I was, who I precious to be, and how to get there. Collins and I connect with beliefs about weed medias negative influences, racism, and power. The first step is to identify and examine the problem, guarantee to change it.

Collins expressed the constant origin to black femininity in the reading whether it was negative or positive. From the reading, I learned at least 4 diametrical types of bitches, one of which Trina constantly referred herself to. The American Heritage dicitionary defined the term bitch as a female canine puppet esp. a dog.
